Sports Injuries

A wide variety of sports-related injuries can result from trauma, repetitive strain and/or biomechanical problems. A detailed evaluation of the injured tissues and biomechanical analysis is completed during the initial visit. This provides the physiotherapist with the necessary information to design an individualized  treatment program.

  • Assessment: Our therapists will complete a detailed evaluation of the injured tissues and biomechanics including assessing footwear or previous training methods.
  • Treatment: Sports injury treatments will often involve manual therapy, including joint mobilization, soft tissue stretching, and/or massage. Core and shoulder stability programs may be used to provide a strong foundation. Techniques such as bracing, taping, and orthotics may be used to help gain motion or offer joint stability. Home exercise programs will be prescribed to complement in-clinic treatment. Clients can be guided from the initial acute injury through to return to sport.
